Cool Resource from ALA

This is something cool I just came across. At the website for The American Library Association there is a page called Great Websites for Kids which lists by category…well, great websites for kids! The categories include Animals, Sciences, The Arts, Reference Desk, History & Biography, and so forth, with subcategories like Dinosaurs (a whole page of links to terrific dino sites!), Zoos & Aquariums, Writing by Children, Games & Entertainment. While there are plenty of good links for research, there are also plenty of links for fun. And the best provide both! Each website link is coded as Appropriate for PreK aged youth, for Elementary aged, for Middle School aged, or for Parents/Teachers/Caregivers.

One of my favorite finds so far is Shakespeare for Kids, which includes Puck Place, where kids can submit sonnets, stories, drawings…you name it. This site is suggested for elementary and middle school aged kids.
